Even as the Monarch butterfly goes through stages of growth on its way to maturity so the Christian goes through times of change. Colossians 1:3-23 teaches that growth starts with simple faith, it starts with one person telling someone else, it continues through the prayer of others and ultimately because of Christ.

The butterfly begins as an egg that hatches into a caterpillar. The larva stage is characterized by consumption and growth. In Colossians 1:24-2:5 we see the passion of the apostle Paul (to bring people to completion in Christ), we see the plan unfolded (to teach God's truth in its fullness) and his concern for protection against deceivers. Paul's example inspires us to pursue the fullness that is found only in Christ
